Вакансія: Clinical Specialist

ICAP at Columbia University, a global health leader situated within the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City, seeks the services of a Clinical Specialist in Ukraine. 

ICAP seeks to fill this key position of Clinical Specialist which will be based in Kyiv, Ukraine by June 2023. The ideal candidate should hold a MD (or international equivalent); PharmD or other relevant advanced degree; graduate degree in public health a plus. Specialty training in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control and/or infectious diseases is an added advantage. Previous work experience in an NGO is ideal for this role.  The job incumbent should also have experience of and be able to work in a conflict zone.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Project Director, The Clinical Specialist will support the technical requirements of the CDC-funded Ukraine Recovery Project. The Clinical Specialist will work closely with the Project Director, Regional Director, and Principal Investigator and other relevant ICAP and Columbia University staff ensure that all technical matters related to implementation and reporting for the project are addressed.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide technical expertise to the project and implementation support at the national, regional (oblast) and health facility levels for antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control activities.
  • Contribute to national-level activities focused on enabling the oversight functions of the national government.
  • Provide technical expertise and implementation support at the regional level by engaging oblast- and hospital-level authorities to improve antimicrobial resistance detection and response programming, strengthen oblast- and hospital multidisciplinary teams, and support quality improvement activities.
  • Train and mentor hospital staff on use and interpretation of antibiotic susceptibility tests, clinical management of infections with multidrug-resistant organisms, implementation of infection prevention and control measures, and appropriate use of antibiotics
  • Contribute to the development of the project workplan and progress reports.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.

EDUCATION

  • MD (or international equivalent); PharmD or other relevant advanced degree; graduate degree in public health a plus
  • Specialty training in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control and/or infectious diseases is an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years’ experience in clinical medicine, pharmacy, or infection prevention and control
  • Experience of at least 1 year in setting up and managing antimicrobial resistance activities
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance and capacity building.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in management of infections with resistant organisms.
  • Proven ability to effectively mentor and train multidisciplinary health care staff and public health professionals
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills in both English and Ukrainian, including the development of objectives, operational plans, and measurable targets for public health programs and projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data for decision making.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Experience working with the US government, and/or WHO agencies is an added advantage.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Domestic travel to project sites when necessary.
