CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent Finnish organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through mediation and dialogue. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking. 

CMI is now looking for a Project Coordinator (long-term consultant) for its Eurasia team to support the implementation of its projects on Ukraine.

Your key responsibilities: 

  • Coordinating the implementation of project activities in Ukraine; 
  • Providing substantive, operational and administrative support; 
  • Developing and maintaining relationships and communication with project stakeholders and target groups in Ukraine; 
  • Contributing to the overall project planning, including updating and communicating project work-plans and calendar; 
  • Providing first-line operational support and trouble-shooting for project consultants and experts; 
  • Providing practical and logistical support to team members, experts, partner organizations, stakeholders and beneficiaries.
  • Contribute to internal and external communication and visibility of project(s) activities/results. 

A successful candidate is expected to have: 

  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) of practical experience in relevant tasks, preferably in an international setting. Knowledge and experience in the field of international dialogue, mediation and/or peacebuilding is considered as an asset; 
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills as well as good IT skills, with experience of drafting or editing different kinds of substantive texts; 
  • Good understanding and practical experience of planning, monitoring and reporting, as well as budgeting and financial monitoring. Experience of working with EU-funded projects is considered an asset.;
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills.; 
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, creativity, conflict sensitivity and good political judgement; 
  • Flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure in challenging circumstances and to tight timelines; 
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English and Ukrainian;
  • A degree from a relevant field; 
  • Commitment to CMI values and principles. 

This is a consultancy agreement for one year (up to 18 consultancy days per month) with the possibility of renewal. The Consultant Coordinator will report to Project Manager, Ukraine. This consultancy is located in Kyiv (home-based). Frequent travel may be required. Starting date will be as soon as possible.  CMI’s over 100 experts work in an international environment with our offices in central Helsinki, Brussels and with a global outreach.
