Communications Specialist (Mid-Level)/Спеціаліст/ка з комунікацій

Nickol Global Solutions (NGS), as a subcontractor to Deloitte on the USAID/Ukraine State-Owned Enterprise Reform Activity (SOERA), is seeking an experienced Communications Specialist (Mid-Level) to provide support to SOERA project communications and reporting. The Communications Specialist will draft, format, and edit project deliverables, track deliverable due dates, draft program materials, including project success stories, public outreach materials and write-ups, ad hoc meeting notes/bullets and other communications products as needed, and will assist in the organization and delivery of public events including webinars, conferences, workshops, etc. This is a remote full-time position based in Ukraine. The start date is immediate.
The purpose of Ukraine SOERA is to strengthen public sector business operations and transparency, improving governance and oversight, advancing privatization of selected SOEs, and developing a strategic management model for SOEs remaining in state ownership. Smart reform and targeted privatization of Ukraine’s SOEs will reduce opportunities for corruption, increase private sector participation, and stimulate broad-based economic growth. Objectives to be achieved by this activity will include:
- SOE Mapping, Information, and Strategy
- Reform Coordinating Mechanism (RCM) and Strategic Communications
- Reviewing and Improving SOE Policies, Legislation, and Regulations
- Facilitating SOE Privatization
- Improving Corporate Governance and Management of SOEs
- Providing Emergency Response and Recovery Preparation Technical Assistance to the GOU and SOEs
Duties:
The Communications Specialist (Mid-Level) will support SOERA project communications and reporting. The Communications Specialist will draft, format, and edit project deliverables, track deliverables due dates, draft program materials, including project success stories, public outreach materials and write-ups, ad hoc meeting notes/bullets and other communications products as needed, and will assist in the organization and delivery of public events including webinars, conferences, workshops, etc. The Communications Specialist will have the overall responsibility for:
- Ensure compliance with USAID and Deloitte policies and procedures in Ukraine
- Ensure the proper branding of SOERA external/public documents
- Write press releases, speeches and articles; edit and organize publication of documents in both English and Ukrainian, develop data visualization and presentation
- Integrate, edit, and finalize SOERA communications products, including draft written materials, success stories, press releases, and regular reporting requirements (monthly, quarterly etc.)
- Work with Ukraine SOERA technical team to develop and produce marketing, outreach, scopes of work, and materials for events
- Review and edit project documents submitted by subcontractors and grantees
- Develop ad hoc communications products which could include social media, video production, written, web content etc.
- Monitor press coverage—including news wires, local newspapers, television, and radio
- Oversee SOERA deliverables for reporting, including establishing SOERA reporting schedules and developing reporting templates
- Review and edit all major deliverables in various publication forms for readability, spelling, grammar, accuracy, punctuation, consistency, and logic
- Support in the drafting and development of all content for internal and external communication including virtual space
- Develop and oversee the communications calendar to ensure timely execution of the program
- Support all creative inputs on company’s communications and publications
- In coordination with technical team, prepare and update Weekly Status Updates and the Monthly Activity Schedules for submission to USAID
- Support creation and execution of all Work Plan activities and components
- Collect and organize data-calls to solicit information on progress of project activities
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and learning activities and data collection according to the IDIQ Performance Monitoring and Learning Strategy and Task Order Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) plan
- Collaborate effectively with technical team to ensure optimal event design, format etc.
- Develop, update event calendar and support in the organization and effective execution of events, including all logistical arrangements
- Coordinate technical details of events with technical team responsible for the technical execution of respective events, including the timely preparation of all printed and online materials, videos, and other event resources (e.g., projectors, boards, exhibits, etc.)
- Ensure effective communications relating to each event
- Assist with taking meeting minutes and transcribing meeting notes and handwritten notes from hard copy into electronic format
- Other activities as requested
- BA in English, communications, journalism, linguistics, international relations or related field
- Knowledge of English at advanced level is required
- Experience copyediting English-language documents and content for grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Ability to write effectively for a variety of different formats and for different audiences
- 3+ years of experience working in a technical assistance project
- Ability to synthesize complex technical issues and data into language that is accessible and compelling to external audiences
- Strong time management skills and understanding of project management
- Experience managing social media accounts
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word and Power Point)
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Applicants must be Ukrainian nationals and based in Ukraine.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience with USAID-funded projects
- Experience with graphic arts and/or desktop publishing software
