The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.
NRC is looking for Durable Solutions Assistant in our office in Severodonetsk for a short period contract (2 months).
Job description:
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Support the Durable Solutions in implementing IPD profiling and IDP situations research
- Bearing responsibility for organizing the working process and implementation of tasks in line with priorities and standards
- Contribute into the research process
- Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
- Promote and share ideas for improvement in area of expertise
- Ensure proper and accurate collection and storage of information and its transfer to the general data base in time and to full extent
- Conduct on daily basis the data collection, including door-to-door and phone interviews, making the lists of interviewees and arranging the data-collection process, participating in team meetings to improve the data-collection process, etc.
- Reporting on regular basis to Durable Solutions Coordinator on scope of work done and progress of data collection
- Assist with the implementation of other Durable Solutions activities
- Organize and schedule meetings and appointments, maintain contact lists
- Assist in data cleaning, validation, data analysis and interpretation in terms of IPD profiling exercise
- Participation, if required, in the regular meetings of Technical Working Group contributing into the agenda
- Provide any kind of assistance to the Durable Solutions as a whole, based on needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience in data collection in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience in communicating with population and working in complex and volatile contexts
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in using COBO or other instruments for data collection
- Experience in using computers, document processing (Excel, Word) and networking software
- Solid understanding of crisis contexts
- Experience with handling insecure environment
- Willingness to work in demanding, stressful situations under difficult living conditions with respect for basic security rules
- Experience in direct interaction with population, namely understanding the technics of interviewing and data-collection is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of different data collection methodologies is a strong advantage
- Experience in humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection, data analysis and validation
Personal qualities:
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
- Good coordination and communication skills
- Skills in fixing conflicts and preventing conflict situations
- Attention to details
