Public Association “Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union” (UHHRU) announces call for proposals for vacant position of Environmental Advisor

 The Environmental Advisor (on part time work, the monthly workload is ~ 20 hours per month) will be responsible for:

  • Advising project teams on environmental requirements for specific projects, developing an environment strategy and action plan that is integrated into work plans of UHHRU projects.
  • Assisting in the ongoing implementation of the environment strategy and action plan.
  • Assisting in ensuring integration of environment as a cross-cutting theme in all aspects of the UHHRU’s projects.
  • Assisting in monitoring results against the indicators.
  • Assisting in reporting to the donor organizations on environmental issues.
  • Providing technical expertise and advice to UHHRU management and personnel regarding appropriate measures to ensure compliance and minimize liabilities related to environmental issues.
  • Other related duties as required.

 Requirements for candidates:

  • Higher education (degree in environmental sciences or a relevant discipline).
  • 3-5 years of experience in an environmental advisory role, preferably with experience in environmental assessment, regulations and compliance.
  • Experience in integration of environmental issues in program design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and analysis of project data.
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian laws and regulations regarding environmental impact.
  • Ability to lead planning, program development and implementation, results-based management and reporting.
  • The ability to work in team.
  • Strong writing, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian (verbal and written skills), knowledge of English.
