Global Rights Compliance (GRC) is an international legal foundation focused on bringing perpetrators to justice for atrocity crimes. We have a presence in the Hague, London, Washington, and Kyiv.
GRC in Ukraine works in support of the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) by deploying several Mobile Justice Teams (MJTs) which assist the PGO in all aspects of the investigation, case building, and prosecution. Our headquarters for this project are in Kyiv, Ukraine. GRC’s MJTs operate throughout Ukraine in areas of interest to the OPG.
GRC will establish an MJT in each of the three ‘Sectors most affected by the war;
- Sector North, covering Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv Oblasts
- Sector East, covering Luhansk, Donetsk, Zhaporzhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts
- Sector South, covering Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa Oblasts
The vacancy will commence as soon as possible after the 1st of August 2023 and run for six months (with a possible extension).
OBJECTIVES
This is a locally recruited post created to increase the autonomy and efficiency of the International Investigators deployed into the field to work alongside local investigators. The ISO will create the following advantages for the Investigator/GRC:
- Facilitate better interaction with the local agencies through personal knowledge/experience of their structures and procedures, and through personal contacts within the agencies.
- Provide language support, enhanced by personal familiarity with jargon, acronyms, etc.
- Double up as driver/security guard, simplified by knowledge of local geography and efficiency with checkpoints, roadblocks, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain contacts in investigative agencies relevant to war-crime investigations and ancillary support services.
- ‘De-mystify’ investigative procedures.
- Help identify openings for new cooperation.
- Assist with contextualizing training and mentoring plans, and help with delivery.
- Plan, drive, and navigate on field missions.
- Local bookings for hotels etc on field missions
- Interpret as required (last resort)
ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
- Ex- Ukrainian Police, SBU, or Armed Forces
- Recently retired, no career blemishes
- Competent in spoken English
- Have a C driving license (armored vehicle)
- Have some field security training/experience
