Project Summary:
CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is a global emergency response organization that brings immediate aid and recovery to underserved communities impacted by crises. The CORE is present in Ukraine, Poland, and Romania to support the critical needs of refugees in Poland and Romania and IDPs within Ukraine. Our programs focus on activities related to shelter, cash, and food security/NFI support throughout Ukraine. CORE works in partnership with local NGOs and government, and coordinates activities with international agencies, INGOs, and other actors working in the field.
Purpose of the position
The CORE Regional Communications Manager, in Ukraine, will be responsible for promoting and positioning CORE as a preeminent first responder in the region, overseeing and ensuring a consistent pipeline of communications deliverables and stories from Ukraine, Poland, and Romania operations to the Communications HQ. This position will work to develop compelling content and raise brand awareness of the organization via media outreach and impact storytelling in alignment with CORE’s brand. The Manager will be tasked with creating, implementing, and overseeing communications programs and activities, internally and externally, ensuring results are effectively achieved, described, and promoted. The person will act as a liaison between the organization, its sub-grantees, local partners, the public, and the media to ensure CORE’s visibility and brand awareness is consistent within the region. This role will report directly to CORE Ukraine Country Director, with dotted-line HQ management, Regional Director- and Director of Global Communications.
You will be responsible for:
Internal Management:
- Lead media planning, monitoring, and implementation of communication-related activities for CORE response in Ukraine and the region, including social media and press opportunities
- Support for content and asset development, informing media campaigns around CORE’s efforts in Ukraine, Poland, and Romania; suggest new and creative ways to promote CORE’s response efforts to target local and regional audiences
- Regularly produce content (factsheets, one-pagers, brochures, presentations, etc.) to provide a comprehensive overview to showcase the impact of CORE’s Ukraine relief efforts
- Facilitate media and asset inputs from CORE in the region to CORE HQ team for social media, web, and international press content and opportunities
- Oversee the production pipeline from the field/implementing partners, including photos, captions, and videos that showcase CORE’s response in Ukraine/the region
- Oversee and provide input so that the CORE website has up-to-date content about the CORE response in Ukraine, current critical humanitarian needs, responses, and gaps
- Implement other media and communications-related assignments, as required
- Ensure HQ has a consistent flow of information and communications assets to inform overarching CORE Communications and Marketing HQ department goals
Media cooperation:
- Contact and work with media outlets to generate proactive and positive news coverage of CORE operations and impact in the region
- Prepare and position CORE and select regional staff for press engagement opportunities and interviews, in alignment with CORE HQ’s talking points and media strategy priorities
- Raise public awareness on key CORE response in Ukraine/regional activities
- Monitor media to identify potential opportunities for CORE promotion and visibility, to be able to pitch stories and respond to media enquires
Donor/Public Engagement:
- Manage the planning and production of compelling and issues-oriented fundraising, advocacy, and publicity materials (web-based, electronic, print, and video) for effective donor and public engagement
- Oversee the consistent and timely offering and production of feature products (stories, articles, photos, videos, and others)
- Ensure that stories, photos, and other materials are produced to the standards of quality required by HQ, donors, partners, and media outlets.
Job Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Communications Manager, PR or Marketing Manager, or in a related field;
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in Ukrainian and English;
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of PR channels and communications practices, tools, and techniques ;
- Ability to make presentations and speak publicly
- Ability to develop impactful content that provokes engagement;
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively and efficiently in a team environment;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
- Basic designing skills (knowledge of Photoshop/illustrator/CorelDraw/Canva) would be an asset
