arche noVa – initiative for people in need is a religiously independent non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Dresden, Germany, working in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. Our primary focus is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Further information about the organisation: www.arche-nova.org

arche noVa is starting a relief program in Ukraine responding to the unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Since the 24th of February 2022, the war in Ukraine shows no signs of abating and continues to drive increasing humanitarian needs across the country, especially in eastern Donetska and Luhanska oblasts. The hostilities have resulted in civilian casualties that continue to grow and significant damage to infrastructure and buildings. The war has affected all spheres of life and uprooted over 12 million Ukrainians, including millions of children. 

For the implementation of the arche noVa relief measures, we are looking for a Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator (national position) 

Duration: until the 30th of October 2023 with the possibility of extension

Position to be filled: asap

Duty station: city of Kyiv with possible trips to the neighbouring oblasts

Contract: consultancy or labour, with two months of a probation period 

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing an effective M&E system and defining appropriate indicators for the relief measures in alignment with humanitarian standards, Clusters` guidance and projects` objectives
  • Developing and applying data collection tools, methodologies and plans
  • Ensuring the data collection throughout the project cycle to enable evidence-based programming and to ensure corrective actions are in place
  • Contributing to accountability to the affected population through establishing a transparent and effective feedback mechanism
  • Conducting regular field visits to the project sites to monitor the implementation of the relief measures
  • Collaborating with the implementing partners’ M&E departments to ensure effective monitoring systems and tools are in place
  • Supporting the Country Representative (CR) in planning, implementing and monitoring the projects, including budget
  • Ensuring compliance with donors’ guidelines, ache noVa internal regulations and relevant Ukrainian legislation
  • Preparing regular M&E reports to be forwarded to the program management team
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relations with local authorities, donors, partners, contractors and service providers
  • Performing other relevant duties as and when required 

Requirements:

  • Degree in relevant fields or at least 3 years of demonstrated experience in data collection and project monitoring
  • Solid knowledge of the project cycle management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Good command of Ukrainian and English (both written and spoken) is mandatory
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Strong self-organisational skills
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Readiness for regular field trips bearing security and access considerations foremost
