Position: Field Researcher/Enumerator (on-site, part-time, across all oblasts of Ukraine, except temporarily occupied territories), travels within oblast/raion.

Position

DKMS is currently looking to expand its existing field presence within all oblasts in Ukraine by recruiting, training and mentoring local specialists to fulfill the role of Field Researchers. These roles play a key role for the company by collecting data from primary sources of information through the use of data collection tools and various data collection techniques. Field researchers report to the DKMS Field Coordinator.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator, conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection through surveys, Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions, direct observations and evidence gathering, including visits to assessment locations, selecting the range of appropriate KIs or Households (HH) (validation from Field Coordinator or Country Manager is essential), observing and collecting evidence as well as capturing human experiences, community insights and impact stories.
  • Conduct interviews or surveys using data collection tools provided by the Field Coordinator/Information Management Unit, ensuring the reliability, consistency, accuracy and quality of
  • Directly coordinate with local authorities and partners as well as daily communication with the Field Coordinator.
  • Complying with methodological standards in reviewing and processing data collected after each performed interview and transferring the collected information to the Field Coordinator/Country or Manager/Director of Information Unit (depending on the task and instructions given to Field Researcher for a particular project) through pre-approved and secure channels of communication.
  • Participate in all training and workshops arranged by DKMS/MECS to Field Researchers, and actively promote a culture of learning by identifying gaps in knowledge for the company to act on
  • Identify and communicate any challenges faced in obtaining access, data, security concerns or any event that can directly impact the Field Researcher’s safety, reputation and health or indirectly expose DKMS/MECS or a client.
  • Analyse the risk environment and be aware of the security situation in assessed areas.
  • Be compliant with DKMS/MECS Code of Conduct, Non-Disclosure Agreement, PSEAH, Modern Slavery Policy, Do No Harm, while practicing accountability and fully implementing the principles of ethical data collection and protection with regards to vulnerable respondents.
  • All data collection is conducted in Ukrainian, but exceptions may be made depending on the preference of the respondents in specific locations.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned for and during data collection activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of relevant work experience (references will be requested at the interview stage)
  • Experience of working with governmental authorities and local or international NGOs is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with conducting assessments, research, interviews and engaging with communities to understand their needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the context and issues related to the emergency response in Ukraine would be an asset.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft and/or Google applications.
  • Ability to deliver results within tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian is mandatory. Intermediate or a higher level of English is an advantage.  

Travels

Transportation and any accommodation costs related to on-duty travel will be covered by DKMS/MECS on the basis of a signed Field Trip form and Reimbursement Request, alongside proof of costs incurred.
