NRC also runs the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva, a global leader in reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own country.

NRC is looking for Community Engagement Assistant (3 positions) in our office in Severodonetsk, Ukraine.

Under the management of the Community Engagement Coordinator, The Community Engagement Assistant will be based in Severodonetsk. He/She will coordinate with other CE staff, to ensure community members’ full representative is achieved at Severodonetsk and support in all community level program implementation activities, such as WASH, LFS, ICLA, M&E etc. and ensure proper documentation is achieved in each of this activities.

Job description:

  • Plan and conduct activities including but not limited to awareness raising campaigns and community sensitizations.
  • Conduction related to COVID-19 events/sessions remotely and directly with materials developed by NRC.
  • In collaboration with other team members, ensure that regular assessment is conducted to ascertain community view of our program and improve CE at community level.
  • Support in community level trainings/sessions activities and ensure all the requirements are met.
  • Support in updating stakeholder mapping.
  • Compile and summarize weekly and monthly statistics and narrative reports and submit to officers.
  • Ensure that all community level obstacles to program implementation at community level are communicated in a timely manner and discuss for further action to address them
  • Ensure that all relevant supporting documentations provided
  • Assist with preparation for community board meetings, events and administer meeting reminders
  • Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor from time to time

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a social worker and/or technician with distribution of emergency humanitarian assistance
  • Good working knowledge of the mandates and modalities of the international humanitarian sector including the UN cluster system
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to liaise authoritatively with figures from the humanitarian community, local media, local government and army, and other relevant actors, when required
  • Willingness to work in demanding, stressful situations under difficult living conditions with respect for basic security rules
  • Must have worked in the same or similar capacity
  • Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with communities.
  • Ability to facilitate training and sessions
  • Knowledge of the context in Ukraine mandatory
  • Solid understanding and experience of crisis contexts and working in complex emergencies
  • Fluency in spoken Russian or Ukrainian.

We offer:

Contract type: short term employment contract (11.01.2021 – 30.04.2021)

Salary/benefits: According to NRC country policy, medical insurance, 7,5 h. working day

Duty station: Severodonetsk, Ukraine
