The Investment for Business Resilience (IBR) Activity, (formerly known as the Financial Sector Reform Activity), is a five-year program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by DAI Global LLC (DAI). The purpose of the Activity is to support systemic changes in Ukraine’s economy and to increase the supply of finance available to Ukrainian businesses. IBR aims to transform the country’s financial sector into a sophisticated, well-functioning, competitive market that is aligned with European Union (EU) standards and integrated into international financial systems. At the same time, the IBR will support the transformation of Ukraine’s financial sector and work to mobilize private finance for sustained economic growth in Ukraine.
The IBR is looking for candidates to fill in the SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER position, LTTA in KYIV OR LVIV
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Senior Communications Manager will be responsible for media relations of the IBR as well as development and creation of different types of content for inner and external purposes and their further distribution in different communications channels / among partners of the IBR.
OBJECTIVES AND DUTIES:
- Develop key narratives on financial issues and package them into content for various target groups using selected media outlets and platforms.
- Develop and write “success stories” for USAID that publicize the impact of the IBR activity on the financial well-being of Ukrainian citizens.
- In cooperation with technical experts, write articles, stories, press releases, op-eds and other content that conveys IBR messaging and narratives.
- Create opportunities for IBR experts and key stakeholders to engage with the media and the public, such as pitching story ideas, organizing press events, setting up interviews, etc.
- Handle incoming media requests, in cooperation with technical experts and project leadership.
- Maintains and develops the pool of IBR spokespersons and experts.
- Works with subcontractors, grantees and partners to improve their communications capacities.
- Liaises with reporters, influencers, media CSOs and partner organizations to develop productive relationships and effect change.
- Manages education programs for journalists and influencers, engaging appropriate subcontractors, grantees, and partners.
- Participates in trainings and other communication capacity building activities for IBR beneficiaries, clients and partners.
- Contributes to developing communication strategies, campaigns, plans, generates ideas and solutions to ensure that strategic communication drives the achievement of IBR goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in public relations, communications, public policy, journalism, media management, or a related field. Alternatively, a degree in finance / economics.
- At least 5 years of professional experience with communications and media relations.
- Experience with financial organizations (banks, fintech projects, insurance companies, credit unions, etc.) or financial journalism is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English and Ukrainian.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Deep understanding of Ukraine’s media landscape, particularly in finance, coupled with active editorial relationships.
- Ability to grasp complex concepts and translate them into plain, relatable language. Familiarity with finance and experience in finance industry strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of key concepts of strategic communication.
- Ability to build and develop productive relationships.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage uncertainty and thrive on change.
