Summary of Position:   

IREX office in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional to fill the full-time position of Program Coordinator for its project Learn to Discern.  This project will equip  Ukrainian audiences, including educators, decision makers, displaced Ukrainians, with critical information engagement skills to recognize manipulative information, reject mis- and disinformation, engage with news and information content safely and responsibly, and make informed decisions free of  manipulation—all contributing to a more informed and active population that can stand united internally within Ukraine and globally to withstand and confront Russian aims to distort the truth and impinge on Ukraine’s sovereignty.

Program Coordinator will work under the supervision of Program Officer. He/She will support implementation of program activities and carry out a variety of programmatic and administrative tasks, with the special focus on organization of events (trainings, conferences, roundtables etc., in-person or remote depending on the changes in war and security) and campaigns aimed at promoting media literacy and critical thinking. Program Coordinator will support creation of the educational materials, videos, and podcasts for the different target audiences such as educators, Ukrainian refugees and IDPs, foreign universities representatives and wide audience.       

Depending on changes in the war and security, IREX reserves the right to determine that the position will be based in Kyiv at a later date. This position is contingent upon funding.    

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Coordinate program’s promotional campaigns such as campaigns for development of critical information engagement skills of educators and decision makers, campaigns for development of resilience of Ukrainian refugees and IDPs, awareness campaigns about the war at universities from abroad;  
  • Organize trainings, conferences, workshops, public discussions and other events for all target audiences on specialized topics (in-person or remote, depending on the changes on war and security);   
  • Organize online events using different platforms;   
  • Effectively communicate with all target audiences of the project; 
  • Coordinate the creation of the educational videos and podcasts on media literacy and critical information engagement topics. 
  • Work closely with partners from the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine (MCIP), Ministry of Education and Science (MOES), the Filter project (MCIP) and other L2D stakeholders to raise awareness of the importance of critical thinking and media literacy;  
  • Coordinate the processes of announcement, selection, and implementation of grant programs; 
  • Maintain effective collaboration with program grantees (NGOs, stakeholders and participants); 
  • Lead the procurement processes and preparation of contracts, vendor and consultant agreements needed for the project implementation;   
  • Communicate with experts and vendors responsible for video and podcasts production, creation of promo campaigns, design, printing, logistics;  
  • Participate in preparation of program reports for the donor and internal ones;   
  • Draft program-related documents, financial payments, reports and successful stories;  
  • Update supervisor regularly on the progress of the project, milestones, and results of the promotion campaign, numbers of participants involved in internal communication etc;  
  • Provide Web-based research assistance for projects and publications; 
  • Travel to regions to attend program events and meetings (remote and in-person, depending on the changes in war and security);  
  • Translate program-related documents (English, Russian, and Ukrainian) when needed;  
  • Liaise with Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and assist with technical reporting;  
  • Other duties as assigned.    

Qualifications:   

  • Minimum of two years of experience, preferably in NGO sector and technical assistance projects;  
  • Background in media literacy work or study is a strong advantage;  
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;   
  • University degree – minimum bachelor level;  
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications;  
  • Must be skilled at handling multiple tasks and able to adhere to tight deadlines;  
  • Advanced English preferred;  
  • Fluent in Ukrainian language.  
  • Interest in media literacy, critical thinking and basic knowledge in this field is needed;  
  • Ability to travel (contingent upon actual epidemiological situation and based on security recommendations provided by IREX and Government) 
  • Ukrainian citizenship or residency with work authorization is required
