ABOUT IWPR

Founded in 1991 and operating currently in three dozen countries around the world, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) is an independent non-profit organization that supports journalists and civil society to help drive change in countries experiencing conflict, crisis, and transition. IWPR has been active in Ukraine since the 2014 initially responding to the need for more balanced conflict reporting and journalists’ safety and security skills. Programming since then expanded to include a wide range of interventions among which anti-corruption and government accountability initiatives; fostering capacity building and collaboration between civil society and media; countering disinformation; promoting Ukrainian agenda internationally; documenting war crimes; frontline and court reporting; media emergency support; and capacity building of regional media and investigative journalism centers.

Since January 2025, in Ukraine IWPR’s projects are mainly focused on providing institutional and operational capacity building assistance to the civil society watchdog organizations and independent investigative media and on strengthening the capacity of Ukrainian journalists to provide updated and in-depth coverage of judicial processes taking place across the country, including war crime court proceedings. Main donors are the Norwegian Agency for Development and Cooperation (NORAD), and UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Several new funding opportunities have been also discussed and applied for with different funding organizations. More information about IWPR Programming in Ukraine is available on IWPR website. and on IWPR Ukraine social media.
