About our Organisation
The Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA) is a collaborative effort between the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom aimed at coordinating and supporting justice and accountability efforts by Ukrainian authorities to ensure accountability for atrocity crimes committed in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. It is committed to demonstrating international support and solidarity during this crucial historical moment for Ukraine.
About the role
The Translator /Interpreter will report to the ACA Country Director and Operations Officer. S/he will assist in the ACA mandate with quality translations and consecutive/simultaneous interpretation services in English and Ukrainian for project-related activities and meetings. The Interpreter / Translator will collaborate closely with the project team and Ukrainian stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Assist international experts in effectively communicating with the project team and Ukrainian stakeholders in particular, the Office of the General Prosecutor.
- Support international experts in developing and delivering customized training programs.
- Translate/Interpret information received by the project team.
- Translate information requests issued by Ukrainian stakeholders.
- Translate policy documents, recommendations, and responses between English and Ukrainian.
- Provide consecutive/simultaneous interpretation from English to Ukrainian and vice versa during working-level and official meetings with Ukrainian stakeholders.
- Produce accurate written translations of legal and other project-related texts from English to Ukrainian and vice versa.
- Assist international experts in their day-to-day tasks.
- Ensure consistency of translation within documents.
- Maintain the highest standards of translation/interpretation, including vocabulary, syntax, expression, grammar, and legal terminology.
- Meet deadlines and be available for comments and corrections.
Candidate requirements
Mandatory:
- University degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in English-Ukrainian interpretation and translation.
- Excellent written and spoken command of English and Ukrainian.
- Good understanding of legal terminology.
- Advanced communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
