Under overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Senior Security Assistant the successful candidate will lead the teams of the security guards of the private security companies contracted by the IOM Kyiv to ensure smooth activities of the Mission offices while taking an active role in providing protection, as well as implementing safety and security measures in regards to the staff, assets and operations which lay within the relevant policies and standards of the Organization, and correspond to the prevailing security situation on the ground.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and direct the teams of the security guards of the private security companies contracted by the IOM Kyiv to ensure that their duty performance corresponds to the high standards of the related activities.
  2. Together with the Senior Security Assistant or another person assigned participate in the selection, training and performance management of the security guards.
  3. Monitor work hours and scheduling of the security guards deployed on different office locations. Provide assistance in adjusting the roster for the security guards whenever applicable.
  4. Ensure that accurate reports are prepared at the end of each shift including daily log book entries, incident reports, false or actual activations of the fire and security alarm signalizations, medical and other reports.
  5. Respond to the complaints or recommendations provided by the management of the relevant offices, and immediately communicate the information to the Senior Security Assistant for potential implementation of the changes in the already developed security measures or procedures.
  6. Based on the prevailing security situation in any given location provide recommendations to the Senior Security Assistant on how various aspects of premises protection can be improved.
  7. Keep the Senior Security Assistant apprised of all activities by the security guards that are not consistent with the instructions and procedures existing in the Mission offices.
  8. Assist in preparing and conducting emergency exercises and drills with participation of the staff, as well as the security personnel of the contracted security company.
  9. Implement response actions in coordination with the Mission senior staff and the Senior Security Assistant as well as under cooperation with the Local Police, Emergency and Medical Departments and any other security agencies during any contingencies which may occur in regard to the Mission staff or its offices.
  10. Assist the Senior Security Assistant with the special security arrangements for VIP visits when requested.
  11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least four years of relevant work experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in security management and/or military experience, law enforcement, disaster response or an equivalent) from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of responsible work experience.

Experience

  • Experience in one of the organizations of the UN Common System, the UN international peacekeeping, civil security or emergency humanitarian operations, security training and coordination with national security agencies, private companies or international organizations is an advantage, preferably with international experience.

Languages

Fluency in English, Ukrainian and Russian is required.
