Global Rights Compliance is committed to enhancing compliance with international humanitarian law (‘IHL’), international criminal law (‘ICL’), and international human rights law (‘IHRL’) in fragile and conflict-affected states(‘FCAS’).
DUTY STATION: The part-time job will be based in Kyiv, Ukraine.
CONTRACT DURATION: 6 months with possible extension.
OBJECTIVES
The National Legal Expert will conduct the analysis on the admissibility of the published DIU (Defence Intelligence of Ukraine) recordings in criminal proceedings on atrocity crimes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze the existing Ukrainian legislation and judicial practice concerning the admissibility of the published DIU recordings in criminal proceedings on atrocity crimes.
- Analyze the relevant international human rights standards, including ECHR practice, which are relevant to the issue of the admissibility of the published DIU recordings.
DELIVERABLES:
- Analysis on Ukrainian legislation, judicial practice, and international human rights standards, (including ECHR practice) on the admissibility of the published DIU recordings in criminal proceedings on atrocity crimes. – (Word, 5-20 pages), 18 days. Deadline for the first submission: 15 January 2024. Deadline for the questions/corrections on behalf of GRC: 22 January 2024. Deadline for the final submission: 24 January 2024.
- Presentation of the report (the key findings and recommendations) to relevant stakeholders and policymakers. (PowerPoint, up to 15 slides, 1 oral presentation to the relevant stakeholders), 2 days. Deadline for the oral presentation: 31 January 2024.
ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
Mandatory:
- University degree (law or related disciplines).
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in criminal law.
- Knowledge of the evidence admissibility under Ukrainian legislation and ECHR practice.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Ukrainian and English language proficiency.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in analyzing the admissibility of OSINT or similar subjects.
