Description:
The USAID Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Activity is seeking a Malware Analyst to work closely with security administrators, architects, and analysts to design software to protect software and hardware assets. The Malware Analyst will protect the organization’s computers and data from various cyber threats with a specific focus on malware. In addition to a focus on software threats, the position may also call for help to strengthen the overall security of a network. The role will also entail support in establishing standard practices and policies for a new Cyber Center, as well as developing organizational, training, and technical plan, utilizing skills pertaining to malware analysis and other key considerations in this technical area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Documenting malware threats
- Identifying procedures and techniques to avoid malware threats
- Classifying malware by threats and commonalities
- Keeping updated on the latest malware threats
- Keeping an organization’s software updated to defend against the latest malware threats
- Helping to create documentation for corporate security policies
- Training company personnel on best security practices
- Understanding tools that identify zero-day cyber threats and working to protect from them
- Participating in research and development of malware protection tools
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a cyber security discipline (computer science, computer information systems, or other relevant field), and at least 2-3 years of experience working on programs of similar technical scope.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional – CISSP – highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of C/C++, Windows API, and Windows OS internals
- Understanding of unpacking, deobfuscation, and anti-debugging techniques
- Experience with creating malware detection topologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and strong interest in professional growth.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Fluency of Ukrainian; knowledge of English and Russian.
