Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is a federal institution engaged in a variety of the specific activities aimed at providing sustainable development. Under a commission from the German Government, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been assisting Ukraine since 1993 in its transition to a democratic state based on the rule of law. Ukrainian-German cooperation currently focuses on the following areas: Good governance; Energy efficiency; Sustainable economic development. GIZ is implementing measures in Ukraine on behalf of five German ministries, the European Union (EU) and also the British and Swiss Governments.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is looking for a

Head of HR

in GIZ Country Office Kyiv 

Main responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain HR-related processes within the company, operational (i.e. policies, concepts, strategies) and administrative tasks
  • Formulates solutions for complex issues and fundamental issues relating to HR issues
  • Advise on personnel-related and employment law issues
  • Ensure smooth payroll processing, maintains contact with payroll unit
  • Moderation of the events related to HR management as well as preparation of the contents (i.e. onboarding for newcomers, assessment and development centers, etc.)
  • Coordination of yearly performance assessment process for national personnel, personnel development and personnel resource management
  • Management of personnel-related tenders, i.e. training providers, medical insurance, experts, etc.
  • Effective coordination and exchange with the responsible departments of the GIZ headquarters
  • Manage internal communications related to HR
  • Lead and manage HR Team in accordance with company’s management principles and guidelines

 Requirements:

 Qualifications

  • MSc/MBA/master’s degree in human resources management, sociology, law, economics, or related field required
  • SHRM/CIPD will receive consideration but is not required 

Professional experience

  • At least 7-10 years’ of more responsible positions in human resources
  • Proven experience leading, supervising and managing a professional staff
  • Proven experience in international companies
  • Full understanding of all HR functions and best practices
  • Good knowledge of labour legislation 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Finely tuned organisational skills and ability to work on one’s own initiative at the conceptional level
  • Strong effective communicator in business presentations, in interpersonal communication and in writing
  • Demonstrates high degree of confidentiality in interpersonal interaction
  • Demonstrates commitment to evidence-based, measurable HR products, activities and services
  • Ability to see the big picture and provide useful and strategic advice and inputs across the company
  • Ability to work in agile context
  • Innovative and hands-on approach
  • High degree of discretion and integrity
  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, SAP-HR)
  • Fluent English language skills, both written and oral, a knowledge of German is a plus
  • Discreet behavior vis-a-vis third parties in all internal matters 

Assignment:

Start of the contract June 2019 till the mid of 2021 on a full-time basis.
