BACKGROUND

HELVETAS is the largest Swiss nongovernmental organization with a dual mandate for long term development and humanitarian response. It has been present in Ukraine for several year implementing development projects mainly through local partners.

During 2022 HELVETAS initiated emergency assistance. Currently we are building our operational presence to deliver comprehensive response to the current humanitarian crisis. HELVETAS plan to be active in Ukraine for next 5-7 years.

Starting date:           October 2023
Duration:                   1 year, renewable
Duty Station:            Kyiv 

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The position holder works under the direction of the Country Coordinator. He/she will also work closely with the Head Finance & Admin.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all financial transactions and cash payments of the projects
  • Prepare monthly bank and cashbox reconciliations
  • Maintain the bank file, ensuring that all bank information is properly filed and updated
  • Oversee preparation of monthly payroll
  • Check and monitor the financial transactions for contracts, consultants, advisers and service providers
  • Organize and follow-up the cash planning and preparing fund requests
  • Deliver month end balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Make sure that all supporting documentation is prepared and filed according to HELVETAS procedures.
  • Support any internal and external audits
  • Monitor project spending against budget
  • Plan cash-flow
  • Provide financial reporting
  • Work with HELVETAS partners to educate them in financial procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel
  • Strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail
  • Good oral and written English skills
  • Travel up to 10% is likely
