About the ENGAGE activity
Pact, a non-profit organization based in Kyiv, Ukraine is implementing a USAID-funded project Enhance Non-Governmental Actors and Grassroots Engagement (ENGAGE) activity.
The purpose of ENGAGE is to increase citizen awareness of and engagement in civic activities at the national, regional and local level. ENGAGE focuses efforts at both the grassroots level to educate and activate citizens to engage in civic initiatives as well as the national and regional (oblast and rayon) levels to improve organizational capacities, build coalitions, support advocacy and watchdog initiatives. The ENGAGE activity primarily focuses on key democratic reforms and cross- cutting themes, such as: anti-corruption, civil education and transparency and accountability including electoral processes, inclusive development of various vulnerable groups, youth and EU integration.
Position is contingent upon funding.
Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the Sr. Program Manager and in close cooperation with Program Officer on Marketing and Events, the Culture and Arts Program Officer will be responsible for the design and implementation of ENGAGE events related to Ukrainian cultural heritage protection and promotion. S/he will also provide daily technical support to cultural, educational, youth, and other civic initiatives and advocacy campaigns that seek to protect Ukrainian cultural heritage sites including assistance to Ukrainian artists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create links, maintain relationships and work with individuals and groups within the arts, cultural, history and heritage sectors to promote participatory activities;
- Ensure networking, and experience exchange among Ukrainian artists, creative groups, cultural institutions, and their counterparts from abroad;
- Coordinate ENGAGE and partners’ activities in relation to the protection of Ukrainian cultural heritage. Ensure cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine;
- Working in partnership with a diverse range of creative groups and artists in conjunction with the Marketing and Event Officer to support the implementation of cultural events. Events will be produced either in-house or externally by ENGAGE partners;
- Work with the ENGAGE communication team to ensure effective marketing and communications that deliver audiences to ENGAGE’s and partners’ events and activities;
- Produce written analysis in relation to culture and art development in Ukraine as well as heritage protection;
- To effectively manage the planning and delivery of projects, events and campaigns (often with competing deadlines and back-to-back events) to ensure safe, timely and efficient delivery;
- Perform other duties within the Program Officer’s competence as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Arts, or Culture and 3+ years of relevant experience;
- Relevant experience working within art and/or cultural discipline and in particular, in the coordination and promotion of art exhibitions and awards;
- Demonstrated history of working with creative and art industries;
- Solid knowledge of the industry;
- Fluent English and Ukrainian;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a complex workload and deadlines;
- Good written communication skills, including the ability to conduct research and write clear and concise reports and analyses;
- Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups to positively influence others to achieve results;
- Ability to manage events and negotiate with stakeholders;
- Proactivity, agility of mind, critical thinking, attentiveness to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to routinely organize data and maintain procedures;
- Advanced level of keyboard skills and computer literacy in a variety of software applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.);
- Excellent teamwork skills.
Preference for:
- Experience with international programs, especially USAID-funded contracts.
