About the project:

In October 2019, Alinea International launched a new five-year project in Ukraine: Support Ukraine Reforms in Governance (SURGe). SURGe is a technical assistance project in Ukraine, funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Alinea International Ltd.

SURGe’s Ultimate Outcome is to help the Government of Ukraine (GoU) to deliver governance and economic reforms that better respond to the needs of its citizens. To achieve this, the Project will strategically enhance and strengthen the GoU’s reform management functions, namely its capacity to undertake planning and analysis of reforms that consider citizen impact and to implement these reforms.

Reform initiative and position summary:

Renewing access to school education initiative of SURGe will support Ukrainian regions and hromadas to restore access to school education that was dramatically interrupted and distorted by the war. The initiative aims to help communities establish new approaches to provide access to educational activities for children affected by war, whether they are IDPs, do not have access to a physical school building or are trauma-affected.

Beside from improving access, SURGe assists the MoES and other stakeholders with the new academic year on the liberated territories of Ukraine by providing schools with instruments for diagnostic of learning gaps and methodological support to teachers to make up the learning loses of their students.

For this reform, SURGe Project is looking for а Project’s assistant to assist the initiative’s team to organize its work, assist in planning, reporting, help to arrange and keep good communication with the stakeholders.

Location: remote job position for now, with meetings in Ukraine once the security situation allows.
Reports to: Team Lead, Sector Lead.
Employment type: full-time, Monday-Friday (part time involvement might be discussed during the interviews with the selected applicants).
Remuneration: fees are subject to negotiation and must not exceed established market rates.

The duration of the contract is 4 months (till the end of December 2022) (subject of approval and implemented deliverables during a previous deployment).

For contracting (after the job offer is made), the selected candidate is expected to be registered as a Private Entrepreneur of the 3d group (consultancy services).

Indicative duties and responsibilities (scope of work):

• Prepare the necessary documents for cooperation with communities/schools of the regions regarding the restoration of access to school education for all children of the community.
• Support all processes of procurement of services and goods within the framework of the initiative.
• Support communication with representatives of communities and schools selected for cooperation.
• Organize meetings and other events within the framework of the initiative.
• Perform other tasks as defined by the team lead.

Preferred qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor degree.
• No less than 2-years work experience, preferably in the sphere of education.
• Good communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Impeccable ethical standards.
• High level English and Ukrainian proficiency.
