What will you do in this position?

You will be responsible to provide effective specialized support and daily follow-up on WFP’s Demining Project strategy and implementation, while supporting WFP’s regular program / M&E activities Under the Dnipro Field Office, Kharkiv Office.

The war in Ukraine has had drastic consequences, both for people inside the country and for those around the world dependent on its huge grain supplies. It has caused one of the fastest forced population movements since the Second World War. Close to 8 million Ukrainians are living as refugees across Europe, and another 5.3 million are internally displaced. Many are destitute, having lost their homes and livelihoods. As food production and supply lines are disrupted by fighting, many families in the east and south do not have reliable access to nutritious food. 

In this position, you will have to:   

  • When needed, work closely with the WFP’s Dnipro programme and logistics units, as well as WFP partners, to ensure monthly distribution plans are in place for regular programme implementation, and to inform programme monitoring planning.
  • Help arrange and participate in programme staff monitoring site visits, and report on the findings.
  • Contribute to rapid market assessments as needed and under the guidance of the Dnipro Head of Programme.
  • Under the guidance of Dnipro programme unit, research and analyze policy and operational issues to support Programme unit in Dnipro, in the development of policies, programmes and activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects in Kharkiv.
  • Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working leading to improved food assistance packages.
  • Liaise with implementing partners (internal and external) to monitor ongoing projects in Kharkiv, ensuring effective collaboration, timeliness and efficiency and highlight potential risks to project delivery.
  • Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.
  • Support the assessments, community engagement and followup on livelihoods of local communities, households and smallholder farmers as required to progress the demining project.
  • Report to the demining project manager and liaise with FAO counterparts and WFP CO on demining project activities on-the-ground.
  • Any other related tasks.

To join us in saving lives, changing lives, you will have:

Education:  Advanced University degree in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses

Experience: One (1) or more years of post-graduate professional experience in project management, worked with technical teams (program, M&E, Agrictulrual, etc., Has contributed to wider implementation of programmes, has assisted or developed with policy discussions.

Knowledge & Skills: Good communication skills, Data analysis skills, good reporting skills, and Good understanding and knowledge of the Kharkiv context.

Languages: Oral and written working knowledge of English and Ukrainian languages.
