Description:
The Pharmacy Manager assures the provision of safe and rational dispensing of pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities to beneficiaries. Make decisions about the appropriateness of medicines and dosages. Reports concerns about partner agencies dispensing or dosages to Health Coordinator.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides the resources and supervision necessary for employees to accomplish assigned work and responsibilities
- Participates in rational selection and quantification of pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities based on National/International Treatment protocol, morbidity data, population demography, stock status, and IMC’s priority for intervention
- Oversee proper management of all pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities in health facility pharmacies; supervise storage conditions (e.g. humidity, temperature, light exposure, cleanliness, pest and rodents’ control, stock security, maintenance of cold chain, etc.), classification, organization and inventory, in order to guarantee the quality of the medicines and other medical commodities and prevent damage, financial losses generated by expired items, deterioration of products and robbery
- Collect and analyze consumption data of essential pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities, identify discrepancies between consumption reporting and morbidity pattern
- Enforce compliance to protocols and report to higher-level management on unusual patterns
- Function as technical pharmacy support in pharmaceutical information, medication use (protocols and rational medicine use), management of side effects, adherence issues etc.
- Work with logistics and coordination teams to predict needs and prevent stock rupture;
- Lead or advise field IMC or partner quality control/assurance process for pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities arriving in warehousing and pharmacy;
- Deliver, design and oversee training of pharmacy and logistics staff in pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities supply chain management;
- Draft and submit bill of quantities of medical commodities in accordance with the host country and donor approved formularies within approved project scope and budget limitations
- Ensure pharmacovigilance in the project and appropriate reporting;
- Keeps policies related to pharmacy updated with current best practices.
- May be required to coordinate distribution of scheduled medications to various nursing stations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Pharmacy and a pharmaceutical license is required.
- At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience required; preferably within the area of focus.
- Proficient in computer applications, especially with MS Word and MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
Desirable
- Previous management supervision experience in pharmacy is preferred.
- Verbal and written English skills desirable.
- Fluent Russian language skills.
- Knowledge of the AOR (Mariupol, Donetsk).
