GC has recently launched its Community-Led Emergency Action and Response (CLEAR) program in Ukraine’s Chernivtsi and Chernihiv Oblasts, with the generous support of USAID’s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance. This program is designed with the goal of saving lives, reducing suffering, and addressing needs while supporting communities to lead their own response. To that end, CLEAR will partner with local CSOs to implement humanitarian projects that address protection, shelter, or water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) needs in their communities.
The IT Assistant will provide support to the IT team and will support in management of all IT functions in the Kyiv Office. This position is based in our head office in Kyiv, Ukraine.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The IT Assistant is responsible for the following:
- Implement Global Communities ICT policies and guidelines at office level, ensuring system security
- Providing first level contact and convey resolutions to employees’ issues
- Properly escalating unresolved queries to the next level of support
- Tracking, routing and redirecting problems to correct resources
- Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
- Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by employees
- Update employee’s data and produce activity reports
- Install computer peripherals for users.
- Administer help desk requests
- Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
- Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and assist with password issues
- Schedule computer related services, maintenance, and license renewals
- Participate in the procurement processes by providing ICT equipment specifications
- Install, modify and maintain client hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Maintain and track hardware and software inventory.
- Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
- Responsible for reporting, evaluating new technologies, and developing contingency plans in case of network failure and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Provide ICT daily support and trainings to staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant donor regulations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A university degree in software/hardware development or equivalent or a combination of experience and education working in this sector.
- Knowledge of accepted software development and hardware maintenance.
- Extensive practical experience in networked environment and support for remote users and field offices.
- Knowledge of supporting Windows client and server operating systems.
- A minimum of 1-year experience in running hardware/software for a medium to large company.
- Past work with international donor funded programs preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including Microsoft platform.
- Familiarity with computer operating systems and database technology (design, software and structure) like MySQL, MS SQL Server, MS Access
- Familiarity with programming languages (PHP, ASP.NET MVC, C# or JavaScript).
- Good problem solving, analytical and communication skills
- Good command of spoken and written English; Ukrainian language skills a plus.
