Request for Applications (RFA)-2023-035 “Grants to Support Participation in Trade and Investment Events”

Dear Applicants,

The USAID Competitive Economy Program (CEP), implemented by Chemonics International, is seeking grant applications for the implementation of activities to support the participation of Ukrainian businesses in international B2B trade and investment events and missions to give them opportunity to internationalize their businesses, connect with new and existing customers, network, access key decision makers in targeted markets, and accelerate export sales and investment. B2B trade and investment events and missions include exhibitions, trade shows, conferences, conventions, trade missions and other B2B matchmaking events occurring overseas, and also incoming missions of buyers, partners and/or investors to Ukraine for B2B meetings and matchmaking.

USAID CEP is awarding grants to Ukrainian non-governmental organizations, public unions, business associations, and other business support organizations (BSOs), to assist with planning, organizing, and funding of activities aimed at participation of groups of Ukrainian companies (at least five businesses in a group) at international B2B trade and investment events and missions, and activities aimed at facilitation of incoming missions of buyers, partners and/or investors to Ukraine, to help Ukrainian businesses pivot to new markets or expand in the existing ones, target and secure new international customers and investors, and grow their sales, creating and sustaining jobs.

USAID CEP anticipates awarding up to 2,000,000 USD through up to 30 anticipated grant awards, which may range from 35,000 USD to 90,000 USD, depending on the scope of the activity and final agreement with USAID CEP. The duration of each grant award under this solicitation is expected to be up to ten months. The estimated start date for the first grants awarded under this solicitation will be in July 2023. The type of grant shall be determined during the negotiation process, depending upon activities envisioned, as well as the grantee’s capacity and experience.

CEP will prioritize projects where USAID resources are leveraged with grantee contribution at a minimum of 30% of the total budget. It is for encouragement for the successful completion of the activity.

The application process will consist of a single stage. There are two deadlines for grant applications:

• 1st Batch – due on June 25, 2023 (for trade and investment events from August 20, 2023 till February 14, 2024)
• 2nd Batch – due on September 15, 2023 (for trade and investment events from February 15, 2024 till August 15, 2024)
