Type of Appointment: Special short term, Six months with possibility of extension

Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Operations Coordinator of Transition and Recovery Unit, the Senior Project Associate will provide specialized support to the implementation of IOM Ukraine’s community participation and social cohesion projects, focused on field coordination.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Support the Operations Coordinator in the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of project efforts, and contribute to the coordination of IOM’s Community Participation and Cohesion Programme, including offering improvements to the planning and delivery of programme activities.
- Liaise with partner NGOs as well as with relevant national and local working-level government contacts, as necessary.
- Support the mapping of community cohesion and participation needs and beneficiaries.
- Provide information gathering and work together with in-house monitoring and evaluation team to devise and implement a monitoring system for community cohesion and participation efforts.
- Contribute to the contracting of partner NGOs and the procurement of goods and services, including visibility items.
- Contribute to regular reporting, communications, correspondence, publication and presentation materials, in English and Ukrainian, to support vulnerable populations.
- Track relevant national development pertaining to development of planning documents, community cohesion and participation, and analyse, summarize and present findings.
- Organize, coordinate the logistics, and take part in related activities and events (meetings, presentations, discussions, visits, etc.).
- Undertake duty travel within Ukraine to areas selected for the unit’s programming, on an as-needed basis.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- High School diploma/certificate with six years of relevant experience;
- OR
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields) from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience;
Experience
- Experience working with authorities and civil society;
- Experience working with IDPs/refugees and/or vulnerable populations;
- Experience in community participation and cohesion, is advantageous;
- Experience working throughout the project cycle, including project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting;
- Experience of working in a UN agency or International NGO is an asset;
- Knowledge of community stabilization, social participation and cohesion, recovery, and similar activities; and
- Ability to implement organizational, administrative and financial control procedures.
Skills
- Proven written and spoken reporting and communication skills in English and Ukrainian, and Russian when needed; and
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams.
Languages
Fluency in English, Ukrainian is required.
