Вакансія: Communication Advisor

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine is seeking qualified professional for the program “Support to vocational education and training in Ukraine / Skills4Recovery” in its office in Kyiv to fill the position of the:

Communication Advisor (full-time, Kyiv)

(internal SAP code: Advisor)

The project «Skills4Recovery» is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The political partners are the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

The objective of the project «Skills4Recovery» is to increase the availability of a qualified workforce for the Ukrainian recovery process. The provision of qualified labor in sufficient numbers is based on creating adequate educational opportunities for all people of working age – this includes initial education for young people and further education for adults.

Responsibilities:

The Advisor is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the planning and execution of communication campaigns in line with the related project strategies and concepts.
  • Coordinating external communication service providers (e.g. agencies, photographers, trainers, copywriters).
  • Drafting content for communication products, like website, newsletter and other PR formats.
  • Collaborating with the team on planning and implementing communication activities for the project.

Tasks:

The Advisor performs the following tasks:

  1. Coordination of project communication
  • Plans and monitors for the implementation of project communication activities.
  • Ensures the respect of visibility & communication guidelines of the project among contracting service providers and grantees.
  • Implements and updates project strategic communication documents (communication strategy/plan, brandbook, etc.).
  • Regularly updates communication materials about the project (factsheets, infographics, etc.).
  • Prepares social media posts.
  • Manages contract related approvals for EU Digitools.
  • Creates and manages budgets planned for communications and ensures that all costs are within allocated limits.
  • Ensures the production of video and photography and keeps the database updated.
  • Develops communication materials and press packages for the events (e.g. press releases, etc.).
  • Implements daily operational aspects of all issues related to PR, as well as the external and internal communication of the overall project.
  1. Communication and networking
  • Maintenances good relationships with stakeholders ensuring implementation of communication strategy of the project.
  • Cooperates with the project team and cluster team responsible for communications to ensure the visibility of the project results.
  1. Other duties/additional tasks
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Required qualifications, competencies, and experience:

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Journalism, Communication or in a related field (Creative Writing, Marketing, Social Sciences etc.).

Professional experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience including experience in managing communication and outreach activities of an organization in a similar international context.

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Readiness to frequent business trips (depends on security situation).
  • English, Ukrainian are required.
  • Experienced working in an international team.
  • Proven track record of creative, successful communication campaigns conducted and implemented communication strategies.
  • Established relationships with media in Ukraine.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, negotiating, and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and within a team.
  • Prior experience with GIZ or international organizations would be an asset.
  • Customer and service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.

Employment conditions

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. The place of assignment is Kyiv. The contract duration is until 30.06.2026. Starting as soon as possible.
