The Embassy of Switzerland in Kyiv is looking for a
Cultural Affairs and Public Diplomacy Officer (100%)
as soon as possible or as of 01.10 2025
The Cultural Affairs and Public Diplomacy Officer plays a key role in the Embassy’s Political, Economic and Cultural Division, being responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing cultural and public diplomacy activities, incl. cultural projects within the Ukraine Country Programme 2025-2028. The Officer assumes a leadership role in further developing the Embassy’s portfolio and network in the areas of culture and public diplomacy.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cultural and public diplomacy programs, initiatives and events of the Embassy, promoting Switzerland’s culture and image
- Plan and implement cultural projects in the framework of the Ukraine Country Programme 2025-2028
- Build and maintain a strong network with a variety of partners, including Ukrainian organisations, international institutions and Swiss stakeholders
- Support the digital communication of the Embassy, particularly in the field of culture and public diplomacy
- Supporting the Embassy’s work in the field of science and education
Required academic qualifications & Professional experience:
- University degree (Master’s level) or a comparable education in international relations, cultural studies, political science, public diplomacy, or a related field;
- At least 5 years work experience in the Ukrainian governmental, private sector and/or an embassy or international organisation
- Deep knowledge of the Ukrainian cultural and civil society landscape, including experience in cooperation with international institutions; knowledge of the Swiss cultural sector is an asset
- Good record in organisational use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc)
- Knowledge of the Swiss cultural sector and Swiss national languages (German, French or Italian) is an asset.
Required skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced editorial skills in both Ukrainian and English
- Well-structured and well organized, highly flexible with ability to work under pressure
- Project and Event Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, including planning and executing cultural programs, events and/or public diplomacy initiatives
- Networking Skills: Proficient in building and maintaining professional relationships across diverse sectors
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify challenges and develop innovative solutions

Other conditions of employment:
Type of Position: Full-time, 40 working hours per week. Staff recruited locally by the Swiss Embassy in Kyiv is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Ukrainian employment law.
All applicants should have the right to live and work in Ukraine. Persons potentially subject to military service have to provide proof of their valid military registration. The Embassy does not sponsor work permits and costs connected with relocation if offered a position.
