America House Kyiv proudly presents an evening about the Appalachian region and culture of the USA. The event will be the kick-off event for a weekend of Appalachian music and dance events hosted by Benya Stewart and made in partnership with dance school Zachepyha, America House Kyiv, and the Ivan Honchar Museum. It’s a land distinguished by coal mining, timber extraction, and often the dominance of Scots-Irish immigrants.
The event will feature a documentary screening on the unique mountainous region and culture of Appalachia, a short Q&A session, and a performance of Appalachian music from Benya Stewart and Olha Sterneichuk.
