Food Processing Sector Team Lead для роботи в Програмі USAID “Конкурентоспроможна економіка України”

Chemonics International, a global consulting and international development firm, seeks a Food Processing Sector Team Lead, full-time position, for the USAID-funded Competitive Economy Program (CEP). This five-year program will encourage startup businesses and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), increase domestic market competition, and support the competitiveness of Ukrainian firms in international markets. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

The primary role of the Food Processing Sector Team Lead would include the following technical areas: continuous assessment of sector and subsector market access points; promotion of high growth potential Ukrainian processed food products; support engagement and contact between Ukrainian food producers and prospective domestic and international purchasers; management of the relationships of previously created export alliances and expansion of those alliances; and the development the Ukrainian food processing sector staff capacity to address common challenges to expanding sales and attracting financing.

The Food Processing Sector Team Lead will engage in immediate sector and subsector market access assessments and coordinate with the export promotion team to identify both domestic and international markets for expansion and growth. The Food Processing Sector Team Lead will engage key sector and subsector organizations and identify the opportunities to facilitate engagement between Ukrainian food producers and potential purchasers. Such methods could include, but are not limited to, facilitating virtual B2B meetings, direct customer-purchaser outreach, and coordination of trade representatives when appropriate, among others. If the development of additional export alliances remains a productive mechanism to increase sales for Ukrainian food producers, the food processing sector lead will aggregate identified SMEs to form such alliances and facilitate the engagement of those alliances with potential purchasing partners. Further the food processing sector lead will manage all grant application assessment and engagements in the food processing sector.

 The Food Processing Sector Team Lead should have the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required. PhD preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience in relevant technical competency area;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the food processing industry;
  • Experience working with individual firms, groups of enterprises, and associations or clusters to develop strategic plans;
  • Previous experience in the region is an advantage;
  • Experience serving in a similar sectoral lead capacity on a US Government or other donor project in transition or developing economies;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings in the English and Ukrainian language;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
